PostSubject: New sprocket assembly   Fri Feb 13, 2009 6:21 am

I have a 43-14T sprocket right now. I was looking more towards a 25-9T. Do I have to replace the cassette, or just get a new sprocket & flywheel?

I was looking to make the change for under $60. Any help is greatly appreciated.

wont be able to do it for under 60 but if you do go 25/9 make sure you get a sealed rim it will last you 2 to 3 years and they are good but it will cost some money to make the change. about 220$ or 119$ but the higher price the better

I'm not sure I understand completely. What parts do I have to buy to do this?

you have to buy a whole new hub or a new rim. A new rim is the best way to go

Hmm. I don't need a titanium rim here, just something that will last average wear and tear. How much does an average rim run? I don't really care about quality. (I wasn't sure if that $119-$220 was for a complete upgrade or just a rim...)

Jeez. A new rim. Wow. That will help him get a 25-9.

If its a stock rear wheel you'll need a driver if you can interchange them.
Or you could by a new rear wheel with a 9 tooth cassette on it.
Or buy a hub and lace the hub to your stock rim.

Then just buy a 25 tooth sprocket.

Thanks for the help guys, but as you can see in my bike check and my avatar, I'm now running a 25T sprocket with a 9T driver.
