The brake mounts you can shave off with any kind of saw. If they're not connected hit them out. With a hammer you should be able to just pound them out.
Why do you need to know what seat you have, if you want to buy a new one? Unless you mean the type of seat post? In which case, if you had a front brake you most likely had a railed seatpost.
